December Bulletin Boards

Besides the wall we decorate outside the classroom we have a window and a birthday board we change every month. This window is between our room and the directors office. We only cover it partially so there is more privacy in her office and the kids don’t see her all the time. They love our director and sometimes they act up because they can’t get to her.

My assistant teachers each made these boards. They are very original I think and cute!

Christmas Wall

This month I decided to do a lot on our wall outside of my classroom. Coworkers walk by and call it our winter wonderland! My assistant teachers helped out a lot with this and one did the reindeer and Santa’s sleigh with the children. It’s our own personal North Pole. The wall includes winter scenery, North Pole, reindeer barn, elves, reindeer and sleigh, class’s Christmas wish list, and signs to hang the children’s photos doing Christmas activities in the class. This took a lot of work! We plan to keep the winter scenery for January as well and change out the Christmas stuff then.

Black Friday Shopping

Did you get any good Black Friday deals? I stood in a very long line and got an IPad and I love it. I think the best deals I got though was from my father. A furniture store is going out of business and decided to auction off everything. Since I recently moved out and had some cheap pieces of furniture, my father offered to make some bids if things went cheap enough. He got a few pieces for his house but he was able to get a couch and high top table and chairs. I was so excited and so grateful for this gift. Merry Christmas to me!

With the upgrade of this furniture, I then wanted to paint some small pieces that I have been wanting to do since me and my roommate moved in. Both were natural wood pieces, but the room needs some more punches of color. After this is complete, all is left is to replace the $20 plastic and particleboard tv stand. I hope to take care of this before Christmas and tackle the rest of the rooms after the holidays.

Peacock-Snowflake Wreath

This year i wanted to make a wreath for the first time. At the apartment we have peacock colors throughout the living space. And me and my roommate love penguins, so we have a penguin door mat. I wanted to combine those qualities to make this wreath. After much researching ideas throughout the web, I decided to go with a tulle wreath. I alternated green, purple, and blue tulle and wrapped it around a foam ring. Then I got the snowflakes at the dollar tree for $2 and hot glued them to the front. Super easy and looks great!

Oh Christmas Tree

This Christmas is the first at my own place. So decoration wise… I’m basically starting from scratch. All I had was a Christmas tree, a feather wreath, and 2 feather trees. The living space is decorated in peacock colors: blues, greens, and purples. So I had fun picking out stuff to decorate my tree in these colors. At my mothers house it was red, good, and animal print. So this is a nice change of pace.

I also am making this pinterest find, of tying ribbon on string of lights to hang around the room. This is very time consuming. This one string took a couple of hours of watching tv to complete and I have 5 more to do. Plus lots of ribbon. But it looks super cool.

Besides finishing the lights I still need to make a wreath for the door, buy or make a tree skirt, and decorate the table. I know some people think I’m crazy cuz I’m doing all this before Thanksgiving, but I want time to enjoy it once I’m done decorating and making it.

Fall Sensory Bin

I’m Shana, and I teach a toddler room where the kids are older 1 year olds and younger 2 year olds. Here I will share things that me and the children do to have fun and learn.

Recently we learned about the season fall. Every week the sensory table is changed out for new experiences. In this table is mini pumpkins and gourds. Then also pine cones and bird seed. The bird seed allows something to run through their fingers as they explore the textures of the gourds. Also I didn’t realize that bird seed is citrusy. Every time we took the lid off, it smelled so good.
